So do you remember when I wrote about all the hard work that two of my peers and I were putting into a presentation? Well, the result is that we have been accepted to present at the American Art Therapy Association Annual Conference!
Have you ever had to do star jumps for a sport? Where you touch your toes before jumping with your legs out and arms overhead, and you have to shout "I'm a star" as you do them?
(If you haven't had to do them... consider yourself warned. and lucky. warned and lucky.)
Well, the point is. When I heard that my two peers and I were going to present at the conference... I could have done star jumps I was so delighted!
This is our little blurp to be printed in the conference brochure:
Art Therapy on the Home Front:
Coping with Military Deployment of a Parent
The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have brought about unprecedented cycles of deployment. The increasing frequency of these cycles has resulted in raised stress levels for military families. This presentation will identify the implications of military deployment on the psychological development and mental health of children within military families.
